Finish line

We crossed the finish line 2130 on Friday, and were docked and celebrating with Kira and Joe an hour later. We came in third in our category, which is remarkable considering we were 93 out of 95 boats in the beginning when winds were low and we didn’t have any light wind sails. But luckily they picked up the second wind and Arkyla FLEW past 52 of them! She is such a great boat.

It’s been a busy couple of days since then, cleaning ourselves and the boat. And sleeping, eating and socializing. Tomorrow we are moving her down to a yard - she is being lifted Wednesday morning so that the rudder can be undirected. We’ll also meet with the sail maker about repairing genoas. We will unpack the parasailor in his loft too and see how bad it is…

Thursday night is price giving. We still don’t know exactly how we’ll do as they have to apply handicaps to every boat.

And Friday I fly home. Already dreaming of my next crossing. Want to do the hard crossing next: going East back to Europe , via Bermuda and Azores…
