Women sailing!
Over the years, I’ve noticed a pattern:
Many women who sail — whether they crew regularly or skipper their own boats — don’t actually lack skill or strength. What they often lack is the right setup, the right leverage, the right timing, or the right dynamic onboard.
Lines feel heavier than they should.
Tasks become unnecessarily stressful.
Suggestions aren’t always heard.
Confidence erodes in subtle ways.
That’s why I’ve created Beyond the Basics: Empowerment, Ergonomics & Efficiency for Women Sailors, a new two-part program at Spinnaker Sailing in Redwood City.
The first part is a 1-hour Zoom webinar focused on how women can approach onboard challenges differently — mentally, physically, and interpersonally. We’ll talk about friction (literal and figurative), leverage, communication, and the small adjustments that make boats feel smaller and more manageable.
The second part is a 4-hour dockside and onboard clinic where we apply those ideas on both a Merit 25 and a Beneteau 39. The emphasis is repetition, efficiency, and building confidence through doing — not just understanding.
If you’ve ever thought, “I should be able to do this,” this course is designed to give you better tools — not just more muscle.
The webinar will be recorded, so you can sign up even if you can’t attend live, and it definitely useful even if you live far away and can’t do the dockside training.
