Day 7 (Can’t believe it’s been a week since we left!! )
Happy thanksgiving! (Though I strenuously object to the original celebration I do like the idea of getting together, eating good food and sharing what we are grateful for! I brought a pack of cornbread mix from the US - cornbread stuffing is my favorite thanksgiving dish, courtesy of my first thanks giving, in Alabama with CiCi.❤️Things here are improving, including moods now when we finally have some wind. Not as much as we want (20-25 knots so that the others have to take down their parasailor), but enough to move…
But as always there are things to worry about and fiddle with on a sailboat like this. The latest is the hydrogenerator not giving as much power as it should, despite James turning the cleaning of it into an art form. The port Genoa also got a fray, but just like the starboard one, it isn’t getting worse. And with better winds the sails are flapping less which puts less stress on them. So the biggest issue really is the coffee ratio. I took inventory and calculated that to be safe we only have enough for one pot per day. So the new coffee law says we divide the pot equally. Then we add water to it to make one or two more pots for those who need it. (Yesterday, before this law was passed), I woke up after pot one and two had been made… pot 3 is REALLY bad so I took one teaspoon of loose grounds into my thermos for my 6 am watch. I’m still finding grounds between my teeth). Other than making cornbread I’m taking a shower and catching up on sleep.
