Day four…
We’re a bit tired, and as always with these things: the last couple of days you are so ready to be done. Last night was a hard one (though not “fighting for your life hard!); 30 knots of wind and fairly big, short waves. Our autopilot is my new hero! It’s really hard to hand steer in these types of seas. Add pitch blackness and unforgiving winds and it would have been awful. Still plenty to do to check settings of autopilot and sails. And stay awake. Dancing to Pitbull and eating candy still unsurpassed in keeping my eyelids open. Now we have routed ourselves around a shallow area. Still 150 meter deep, and it adds may 30% to our remaining route, but waves form around these areas and we don’t need more of those - think we have at least 5 meter high swells right now towering over the stern. Really hope we get in before night fall tomorrow. We can’t go in once it’s dark - too dangerous - and I really don’t want to sail back and forth outside to kill time…
