Finally at anchor!
Batteries arrived and were installed this morning (and if you want a reco for a great electrician in Gibraltar, I have one! - and marine electrics course was super helpful: mostly to appreciate how good he was, but also to confirm some things I’d seen). Anyway, we were finally able to leave the marina at midday. It’s interesting how inertia sets in after a while in a marina, and it feels harder to leave. One can understand how people get stuck and stay for months and years…(There are quite a few of those). Anyway, after refueling and checking into Schengen again, we anchored outside La Linea, getting ready to leave 5.20 am tomorrow, when, if we’ve done the math right, the current in the Straight will be the most favorable. We’ll have 8-12 knots of wind right on our nose all day, and since we have to stay where it’s shallow to avoid the Orca’s, that means motoring. But the weather looks pretty terrible the following days, so tomorrow it is! Wish us luck!
