The End
Arrived in Las Palmas this morning after a beautiful, leisurely downwind sail along the coast of Lanzarote - one of those perfect ones, then a crazy time in weird low winds and currents and then suddenly: the WAZ with wind jumping from to to 12 to 26 in seconds. Even heavy Arkyla shot off. And we reefed! Then a couple of gorgeous hours sailing into the setting sun in steady 25 knots on the beam (a good thing) cutting through big nice swells. Again reminding me why sailing is the best. And then we turned more south, seas changed and we had long, dark night of good sailing but difficult seas. Reminding me of how it can also be! Then we arrived in Las Palmas and had pizza and beer for breakfast!
Sad to finish this year’s long delivery and weird to be back in Las Palmas, where I arrived two years ago for the first time, full of concerns and excitement about the Atlantic crossing I was about to embark on…
